Clay is founder, Chairman and CEO of Sun Financial. He also serves as Chairman/Managing Partner of the Biddinger Family Foundation and his family partnership Tomstemark, LP. Previously he founded and led Sun Financial Group and Bay4 Capital. With more than 35 years of experience, Clay brings his strategic and financial background to the helm of Bay4 Energy Services. In addition to leading our vision for the future of renewable energy, Clay develops and maintains many of the close working relationships that we value. Clay earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida.
As President, Dennis W. Odden oversees Bay4 Energy’s asset management and technical services teams. Dennis has been with Bay4 since its inception in 2014 bringing more than 25 years of experience and an extensive operating background in the finance and technology industries. Dennis began his career at Sun Financial Group and developed his leadership experience in positions including Chief Operating Officer of Sinter Capital, the Managing Director with GE Technology Finance, President of Convergent Capital Corporation and Vice President with Convergent Communications Services, Inc. Dennis exclusively moved to Bay4 Energy in 2014 after working at both Bay4 Energy Services and as Senior Vice President at Kenyon Energy.
Dennis earned his bachelor’s degree in Information Systems from the University of South Florida.
Rob joined Bay4 Energy Services as the Chief Financial Officer in 2016. Rob brings with him 30 years of finance and accounting experience across varying industries and countries, including time at Ernst & Young in both the Assurance and Transaction Advisory Service practices. In 2016, Rob was named the Overall Winner and the Medium Private Business Category Winner in the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s CFO of the Year Awards. Rob is known for his operational finance expertise and for bridging the gap between finance and operations.
Rob earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto, holds a Chartered Professional Accountant designation in Ontario and also received a Certified Professional Accountant certificate in Illinois.
Jose’s responsibilities include developing and implementing policies and procedures within Bay4 Energy Services, incorporating appropriate compliance and controls throughout the business, enhancing reporting capabilities for continuous organizational improvement, and managing all back-office operations including customer service and sales support. Jose has worked in Finance and Operations at Sun Financial Group, GATX Capital Technology Services, GE Capital Technology Finance and most recently at PODS Enterprises. Jose previously worked at Grant Thornton, LLP, in the Business Advisory Services group where he was focused on IT external audit, business process improvement, SAS 70, SOX 404 and corporate governance. Jose earned his bachelor’s degree in International Business from Auburn University, and his master’s in Business Administration from the University of South Florida.
Cliff has served as General Counsel and adviser to the Board of Directors to renewable energy companies since 1999. During that time, Cliff has spearheaded efforts to raise equity capital from venture-backed funds and private equity firms; helped develop strategy and execution of operating plans to create value and growth; and structured, negotiated, closed, and restructured renewable energy projects with sophisticated debt-financing and tax-equity transactions for solar and waste-to-energy facilities. Cliff has strong problem-solving and risk management skills developed in growth-oriented companies, and is an experienced hands-on point person for merger, acquisition and deal making activities as well as regulatory management and compliance efforts in solar and energy companies. Cliff holds a bachelor’s degree from Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, and a Juris Doctor degree from Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia, where he served on the Emory Law Journal Board of Editors.
Mark has worked for and with the Bay4 Energy Services team for more than 15 years and has more than 30 years of experience in financial services, business development, C-Suite advising and consulting and enterprise account management.
He has also led international expansion into Mexico, Brazil, and Canada. In addition to working at Bay4 Energy Services, Mark has worked for Bank of America, GE Capital Technology Finance, and CHG-Meridian USA Corp. Mark understands today’s complex renewable energy environment and brings his passion for developing and maintaining large client relationships to Bay4 Energy Services. He has the expertise to position the company for continued growth and success.
Mark earned his bachelor’s degree in Business and Economics from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington.
Mike is the original software architect and developer of the software used at Bay4 Energy Services. The genesis of this software dates back to 1977 and was one of the very first asset-based software solutions and successfully used by all of Bay4 Energy Services team’s partners. Before joining Bay4, Mike founded and ran his own software company and continues to advance software improvements with the Bay4 Energy Services development team. Mike has worked closely with the team in the past to implement software upgrades and support conversion efforts.
Mike studied Finance and Information Technology at the University of Colorado and Metropolitan State in Denver, Colorado.
Teresa Schafer has been working with the Bay4 team since 1987, when the company was Sun Financial. She began her career as a receptionist after graduating from the University of Central Florida with a bachelor’s degree in business management. Throughout her tenure she has worked on the financial side helping lenders and coordinating financial resources, and also did a short stint in systems support. She later moved into contract administration and after one year moved into contract management, where she now works.
Bill Richardson President, Technical Services
With experience in renewable energy and electric utility industries, including ten years concentrated in R&D, product development and electrical engineering, William Richardson joined Bay4 Energy Services in 2015 as President, Technical Services Division overseeing Operations & Maintenance, field services and a unique testing and development group known as LABs (now Engineering & Research). Richardson previously served as Chief Executive Officer for SOLON America, a provider of large commercial and utility-scale photovoltaic systems. Richardson joined SOLON in 2008 as head of Research & Development, where he oversaw module testing and product development as well as strategic management and evaluation of new technologies for the North American market. Prior to joining SOLON, Bill worked for Tucson Electric Power, where he developed a profound understanding of the challenges inherent in large-scale adoption of photovoltaics into the grid. Bill earned his bachelor’s degrees in Renewable National Resources and Electrical Engineering from the University of Arizona.
Dr. Daniel Cormode Director, Engineering & Research
Daniel has more than five years’ experience in the research and development of solar. In 2011, Daniel launched SOLON’s Energy Storage Management Research and Testing (SMRT) site in Tucson, Arizona, which hosts multiple storage technologies on a 1.6 MW PV field to test their reliability and applicability.
Daniel has a PhD in Physics from the University of Arizona with an emphasis in photovoltaics.
Ben Striner Director, Operations & Maintenance
Ben has more than five years of experience in the solar energy field. Prior to joining Bay4, Ben managed technical services at SOLON in Tucson, Arizona, where he supported the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) team in the construction of new projects. In 2009, he implemented SOLON’s North American Outdoor Testing Facility, where next-generation module, tracking and systems integration testing are conducted.
Ben has his bachelor’s degree in Optical Sciences and Engineering from the University of Arizona.
