1981
Originally formed in 1981 as Sun Financial Group, Bay4 began as a technology leasing company with a niche for managing the diverse technology assets of large companies.
1995
Sun Financial Group is purchased by GATX Capital and became the technology leasing group with GATX Capital. The team acquired three other technology leasing portfolios and seamlessly converted the data from these companies into its portfolio to service the additional assets. The team used a software package on an AS400 platform, developed by software engineers who have since joined Bay4 Energy Services, to convert and manage the assets.
1999
The team formed Bay4 Capital entering the commercial equipment leasing business with an emphasis on asset management capabilities and developed a next-generation software package. Bay4 began operating a small energy finance team putting together Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for selling energy to off-takers from onsite power facilities and entered the world of renewable energy.
2004
GE Capital acquires Bay4 Capital for a two-year contract to build its technology finance business. Both GE Capital Technology Finance and the Bay4 servicing group operate on the Bay4 software platform.
